The Pirate tennis team hosted two matches on Saturday. In the morning, the Pirates faced Schreiner and both the men's and women's squads captured the victory in decisive fashion.
The men swept all matches and sets from the Mountaineers to win 9-0. The doubles teams only allowed Schreiner five games total. The standouts from singles action were Casey Guinn's win over McKinney 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth flight and Alex Lam defeatin Okland 6-1, 6-0.
On the women's side, Schreiner was able to sneak one match away from the Pirates, but SU won 8-1 overall. Southwestern dominted the second through fifth flights, allowing only seven games in all matches and Charlotte Huskey and Lali Satyavada blanking their competition.
Southwestern faced tougher competition in the afternoon as they battled UT-Tyler. The Patriots wasted no time getting on the board as they swept the men's and women's doubles. In singles games, the men were blanked and fell 9-0 overall while the women were able to capture two matches. Mary Pennington defeated Reed 6-0, 4-6, 7-5 and Lali Satyavada defeated a last minute substitution 6-3, 6-4.
