PIRATES OPEN SPRING SEASON BY BLANKING UT-DALLAS

The Southwestern University women's tennis team opened their spring season by dominating the University of Texas at Dallas on Friday in Georgetown, winning 9-0.

In singles action, the Pirates swept the Comets by winning all six matches in just two games. The closest a Comet would get to winning at set would be in the second set of the fifth flight where UTD's Tania Foster pushed SU's Sara Fitzsimmons to a 7-6 (5) victory.

In doubles, the Pirates once again controlled the match-up with Finn/Pennington (SU) defeating Brownfield/Matlock (UTD) 9-7, Fitzsimmons/Huskey (SU) defeating Kent/Heston (UTD) 8-1 and Satyavada/Gaines (SU) defeating Foster/Davis (UTD) 8-2. The women's tennis teams hits the courts once again on Friday, February 13th at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.
