Dr. David Medley has remained active and faithful to Southwestern University Intercollegiate Athletics for over sixty years. He came to Georgetown in 1939 when his father, R. M. Medley, took the Athletic Director/Head Football coaching position. David entered the Navy V-5, V-12 program at Southwestern in July 1945, and played basketball for the University, lettering three years. He played on the 1945-46 Texas Conference basketball championship team coached by his father. Dave graduated Magna Cum Laude, and went on to receive his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Texas. Over the years, David and his wife, Rosemary Morris Medley, '49, have supported SU athletics with their hearts, dollars, time and treasures. They donated a replica of Southwestern's Sun Bowl Trophy to the University, refurbished the 1946 Texas Conference football championship trophy, and donated a new 1945-46 Texas Conference basketball championship trophy. Also, thanks to the family's generosity, the Medley Room, located in the Corbin J. Robertson Center, was created and named for David's father. David loves sports, he loves Southwestern University, and truly embodies the essence of what distinguishes real players from everyone else.
