Led by Head Coach Jim Mallon, the 1984 edition of the Pirates was arguably the best in history. Southwestern posted a 53-16 record and finished third overall at the NAIA National Championship. The Pirates also were crowned NAIA District 4 Champions and finished runner-up in the NAIA Area II Tournament.
