GEORGETOWN, TEXAS- The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams will be sharing the same schedule for the 2023 Fall Season.
The Pirates kick off their season with hosting the Pirate Opener on September 1st. Two weeks later, Southwestern University will host the SU Showdown on Sept. 16th again.
Newly hired Alum, Coach Joe Sponsel, had this to say about his first season as Pirate's Head Coach: "I'm stoked to take charge of my first season as a head coach this fall. This group is full of hard workers, good teammates, and serious competitors. I can't wait to see how those great traits come together to help us be a better team. Our incoming freshmen have all shown enthusiasm about connecting with the returners and putting the work in over the summer. There's always some adjusting to a new race distance, but if they can be patient with themselves, they can make a meaningful impact right away with both teams being much improved from last year."
On the men's side there will be 7 returners with 6 freshmen and the women have 8 returners and 4 newcomers.
The Pirates have 2 more meets in October before the SCAC Conference Championships hosted by Texas Lutheran on October 28, 2023.
