School Record Broken at Day 3 of SCAC Championships

The Pirates were back at it for Day 3 of events at the SCAC Swim and Dive Conference Championships in Garland, Texas. Preliminary races took place at 10:30am with athletes fighting for the chance to advance to the finals at 5:45pm at the state of the art Garland ISD Natatorium. 

Junior Molly Spano earned herself the 3rd spot on the podium in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 4:37.38. 

Southwestern's Andrew Renninger placed second in the 400 Yard IM. He is just a freshman and managed to break the school record with a time of 4:05.58!

Zoe Garcia placed 3rd overall in the 100 Yard Butterfly in 57.75.

Jorge Mendiola placed 3rd in the 100 Yard Breaststroke in 57.36. 

Elise Samples placed 3rd in the 100 Yard Backstroke in 58.05 and Owen Rodrigue also took 3rd in the backstroke with a time of 52.66. 

The Southwestern women had a fantastic 400 Yard Medley Relay team. Elise Samples, Annie Leblanc, Zoe Garcia, and Emma Free raced their way to 3rd overall in 3:57.82.

With a time of 3:29.29, Owen Ridrigue, Jorge Mendiola, Kevan Kennedy, and Henry McClure placed 2nd in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. 


The final day of competition continues on Saturday with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m., women's and men's finals at 6 p.m.
