Men's Swimming & Diving Opens Season Against Trinity

SAN ANTONIO — The Southwestern swimming and diving men's team opened its season with a dual match against the Trinity Tigers, losing to the defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Champions. 

Southwestern's Zach Kangieser and Sam Anderson were the lone Pirates from the men's team to win their event. Kangieser won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:00.16, besting Trinity's Omar Shahatit by a little more than three seconds. Kangieser also placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.29. Sam Anderson won the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 54.79.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Carter Duncan, Brooks Taylor, Tyler Scott, and Anderson finished third with a time of 1:40.46. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sebastian Ortiz, Drew Anderson, Henry McClure, and Duncan also finished third with a time of 1:30.57. 

Southwestern will host Colorado College and Centenary for a meet on Friday, Oct. 22, at 5:00 p.m.
