Pirates Finish Top in Pirates Invitational

Pirates Finish Top in Pirates Invitational
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Despite the cold front that blew in  Friday morning, the Southwestern University women's cross country team grabbed second and third place in the Pirates Invitational 6k this Friday afternoon.

Emma Pertuit finished a close second place to TAMU-Kingsville's Monica Yanez, who finished in the first place. Pertuit had a time of 27:05 with an average pace of 7:15 a mile. Lauren Calzado, who marked her best 6k time, finished right after Pertuit with a time 27:58, shaving off a minute from her last 6k showing at the Saints Invitational early in September.

Ending their last race of the season, the women now will train to be ready to run in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they will compete in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships on Saturday, Nov. 4.
