Honorable Mention: Volleyball defeats Colorado College for the third time to reach the Championship match

Southwestern volleyball had nationally-ranked Colorado College's number all season as the Pirates won all three matches against the Tigers in 2014, the third coming at the most crucial time, postseason. 

The rivals met up in the SCAC Semifinals on November 7th for the third time that season. Southwestern won the first meeting on September 20th in straight sets, 3-0, when CC was ranked #10 in the nation. At their next meeting the Tigers had moved up two spots to #8, but the Pirates still prevailed with a 3-2 victory. 

The first two sets of the match set the tone with a 25-23 set win for each side. Southwestern pulled ahead to lead 2-1, winning the third set 25-19 with an impressive .256 attack percentage. Colorado continued to fight, however, and eked out the fourth set 25-20. Southwestern was blazing in the fifth set with a .200 attack percentage and holding the Tigers to .000, showing why they were the top defensive team in the nation.

Kaitlyn Foster led with 17 kills for Southwestern while Macey Pool added in 14 and Olivia Drummond 11. Foster also led defensively with 26 digs and Chandler Lentz chipped in 22. Kirby Kincannon dominated the net with five blocks.

The win advanced the Pirates to the Championship match for the second year in a row where they fell to Trinity University 3-0. Southwestern ended the season at 26-9 overall and 12-2 in the SCAC.
