Volleyball splits day two

Southwestern was slow to start in game one and fell 25-17 with a .000 attack percentage for the set. The Pirates rebounded well to take the second set 25-21, but that is as much ground as they could take as they eventually fell 3-1 in the first match of the day.

Kaitlyn Foster led with 11 kills while Abbie Robb had 10 kills and a team high .346 attack percentage. Southwestern hit just .146 as a team while UTD posted a .215 attack percentage.

Foster and Lentz had 19 digs each in the loss while Sydney Rochelle posted 23 assists.

In match two, Southwestern was slow to start but secured the crucial points to win 3-2 over East Texas Baptist. SU hit just .182 in set one and fell 25-20 before posting a .208 and .264 attack percentage in set two and three, winning 26-24 and 25-20.

ETBU pulled out the third set with a .238 attack percentage, but Southwestern won the fifth and final set 15-12.

Haley Moffett and Kate Mitchell led the Pirates with 14 kills each while Foster and Kirby Kincannon added in 10 each. Kincannon also had an impressive eight blocks in the game while Foster posted a team high 26 digs.

Southwestern, now 2-2 on the year, heads to St. Louis, Missouri to take on Webster, Washington, Wittenberg and Wheaton beginning on Friday at 3:30 p.m.
