Women's Track Completes First Meet at Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Southwestern University track and field team competed in the first meet of the season at Texas A&M Invitational Meet late this evening. 

In the track events, some highlighted performances included Nathan Botoros who placed in the top 20 for the men's 800-meter run, placing 14th with a time of 2:06.88 as well placing 20th in the men's 1-mile race with a time of 4:41.37. Fellow teammate Noah Dennis came in right after Botoros in placing 21st with a time of 4:42.09 and then 2 C.P. Shaulis placed 22nd with a time of 4:43.28. 

For the field events, both men's and women's teams excelled in primary events as well in new events for Southwestern University track athletes to compete in such as the men's and women's weight throw. 

For the women, Jaelynn Stewart placed 10th in shot put, throwing 11.30m, while Julia Glandt placed 15th reaching 9.97m. In new the event of weight throw, Hannah Bruce marked at 13.34m placing 12th overall with Stewart placing 15th with a mark of 11.40m, followed by Glandt who placed 16th with a mark of 9.54m. 

On the men's side, first-year athletes Joey Robinson and Sean Longley placed 11th and 15th in shot put marking at 11.52m and 10.88m. Both freshmen would go on to compete in the men's weight throw event, with Longley placing 13th overall marking at 11.78m. Robinson earned 14th place marking at 11.18m and senior Mike May grabbed 15th marking at 10.88m. 

Up next, men's and women's track will travel to San Antonio, Texas, on Saturday, March 6 to compete in the Trinity Invitational.
