ABILENE, Texas - In its final tuneup before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, the Southwestern women's track & field team finished fourth at the McMurry Open on Thursday.
The Pirates were again paced by a strong performance by first-year Jalynn Ashley. The Huntsville native won the triple jump with a leap of 10.86m. She also finished sixth in the long jump and seventh in the 100-meter dash.
Tori Carraway logged a runner-up finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.92 seconds.
Additionally, Sara Cowan was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles and Bridgette Famiglietti was third in the triple jump.
The Pirates will compete in the SCAC Championships on Friday, April 28, in San Antonio.
