Women's tennis falls to streaking War Hawks

Women's tennis falls to streaking War Hawks

McMurry extended their win streak to four with a 7-2 win over Southwestern on Friday in Abilene.

McM led 2-1 after the hotly-contested doubles matches. The War Hawks won both Nos. 2 and 3 doubles. At No. 2 pairs play, sophomores Chloe Patterson and Madison Hathorn improved their team-leading record to 13-2 with an 8-5 win over the Pirates' Kali Rose and Nicole Wilson.  At No. 3 doubles, Bree Brosig and Gabby Camacho outlasted Virginia Stofer and Maranda Kahl, 8-6.

Five wins out of the six singles matches provided the margin of victory for McMurry. The War Hawks won Nos. 1-4 singles, as well as No. 6, and all in straight sets. Patterson handled things at the No. 1 position with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Julie Swets.

Kali Rose was the only Pirate to win her singles match, defeating Hathorn in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Southwestern falls to 7-5 on the year while McMurry improves to 12-3.
