Stovall and Frey Finish Earn Top Finishes in 50 Yard Freestyle

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- In the second day of the Southern Athletic Collegiate Conference (SCAC) Swim & Dive Championships, Southwestern's Jesse Stovall and Emma Frey placed first and second in the 50-yard freestyle.

Showing promising times in the preliminaries, Stovall once again kept her place in first by finishing with a time 23.59 followed by Frey who finished with a time of 23.74. Catherine Hiebel also placed in the 50-yard freestyle earning eighth place with a time of 25.55. 

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Pirates finished in second place with Stovall, Rehgan Hartsell, Frey, Emma and Hiebel finishing with a time of 1:36.48. 

Hartsell earned second place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:09.85 while Natalie Gierat finished in sixth place with a time of 2:14.19. Brielle Adolph finished at eighth place with a time of 2:16.67.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Natalie Hicks finished in ninth place with a time of 5:18.23 followed by Alicia Peters (5:31.73) and Megan Mick (5:37.94). 

Southwestern trails close behind the Trinity women's with 277 points while the Tigers collected 358 points.

Up next, women's swim will continue tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. preliminaries then finals at 6:00 p.m. with men's 1-meter diving, women's 3-meter diving, 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and the 400 medley relay.
