Women's Swimming and Diving Competes Against Carthage

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team competed against Carthage in a winter break relay meet in which Carthage outscored the Pirates 43-25.

It was a friendly, pared down meet sticking to relay races and foregoing individual competitions with nine events, four by the men's team, four by the women's team, and one 6-x75 freestyle mixed competition.

"In the first time Southwestern swam against Carthage, it was a fun relay meet," Head Coach Jon Duncan said. "It was good to have this type of meet during winter break. We look forward to finishing our practices this week before they head home for Christmas break."

The women opened the meet with a victory in the 300 medley relay (3:03.75), second in the 500 freestyle relay (4:56.32), second in the 400 medley relay (4:36.20), and second (1:40.87) and third (1:44.06) in the 8x25 freestyle relay.

Southwestern placed first in the mixed 6x75 freestyle relay. In combined men's and women's scores, Carthage outscored Southwestern 77-76.
