MIDLAND, Texas -- In a final tune-up meet before the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships, the Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team put on a solid performance, defeating UT-Permian Basin (UTPB) 122-88.
The women started the meet with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a team of Ashley Harmon, Jesse Stovall, Rehgan Hartsell, and Cara Chin clocking in at 1:51.41 to UTPB's 1:55.88. Stovall was also victorious in the 100 Yard Freestyle (54.07).
Stovall placed second in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:59.73 while seniors Erika Dubros and Chin tied for second in the 50 Yard Freestyle at 25.85, missing the top spot by fractions of a second. Dubros also took the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:03.04). Natalie Gierat finished second in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:36.13).
Hartsell took the 200 Yard IM by two seconds, finishing with a time of 2:15.07. Ashley Harmon won the 100 Yard Backstroke at 1:01.96.
Kyla Gorman scored a 167.93 in the one-meter dive and 166.73 in the three-meter dive as the only women's diver.
The women closed the meet with a victory in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay with Hartsell, Gierat, Catherine Hiebel, and Brielle Adolph clocking in at 8:23.75.
Southwestern will compete in the SCAC Championship from Feb. 13-16 at Palo Alto College in San Antonio, Texas.
