SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southwestern University Pirates women's swimming and diving team defeated the Centenary College Ladies 130-110 on Saturday.
Southwestern University started strong, besting Centenary College by more than four seconds in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:54.09 to 1:58.32. The Pirates got a strong close with better than 30-second performances from Jesse Stovall (25.31) and anchor Cara Chin (26.13).
Stovall also won the 50 Yard Butterfly with a time of 26.37 (followed by Rehgan Hartsell (28.71) and Chin (29.30)) and the 100 Yard Butterfly with the lone sub-minute performance of the event (59.81). Hartsell was also victorious in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.34) and the 50 Yard Breaststroke (32.16).
Ashley Harmon continued her strong work in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:14.34 and Natalie Gierate took the 100 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 58.29. Southwestern University closed strong with a victory in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with all four Pirates finishing in less than 27 seconds for a combined time of 1:45.85.
The Pirates will travel to San Antonio on Friday, Nov. 16 to compete in the Trinity Invite at Palo Alto College.
