Hartsell Breaks SCAC Record as Pirates Remain in Third

THE COLONY, Texas - Freshman Rehgan Hartsell set a new SCAC Meet Record in the 100 breaststroke to lead the Southwestern University women's swimming team on day three of the SCAC Championships at the Lewisville Aquatic Center.

The Pirates maintained their postiion in third place with Trinity still leading with 696 points followed by Colorado College with 536. Southwestern sits with 420 points followed by McMurry with 207 and Centenray with 170.

Hartsell finished with a time of 1:04.10, breaking the nine year SCAC record formerly held by Meredith Angel of Centre at 1:04.20. Hartsell also earned a NCAA B Cut in the process and obviosuly set a new school record as well.

The 400 medley relay team of freshman Kate Russell, Hartsell, junior Cara Chin, and junior Erika Dubros placed second in the even with a time of 3:58.96. 

In other action, senior Taylor Adams placed third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:45.34, shaving five seconds off her prelim time to earn bronze. 

The Pirates will have one more day of competition on Saturday. The finals will including the 400 medley, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and the 400 medley relay. Prelims get rolling at 10:30 AM with finals beginning at 6 PM.
