Pirates edged by Texas-Permian Basin in season opener

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Southwestern University women's swimming & diving team opened the 2015-16 campaign against Texas-Permian Basin Saturday at Walzel Natatorium. The Pirates were edged by the Division II Falcons, 137-129.

Southwestern collected four event victories on the day.

Madison Doty won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.50, while Taylor Adams touched the wall first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:40.95.

Hayley Knight finished first in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 114.97.

The Pirates also won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.72. Adams, Cara Chin, Erika Dubros and Marisa McCormack combined to earn the win.

Southwestern will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Austin College.
