Pirates Finish Four-Game Sweep Over Centenary
SHREVEPORT, La. – Southwestern softball finished a four-game conference series sweep of Centenary with 8-0 and 6-4 victories at Centenary Softball Field.

Starting the first game, the Pirates penetrated Centenary's defense by singling off three runs in the first inning to make the game 3-0.  With Lindsey Longuet keeping the Ladies at bay with the backing of a strong Pirate defense, the Pirates continued to keep the Ladies off the bases and the game going in Southwestern's favor.

With the Ladies struggling to find their way to home plate, the Pirates held Centenary scoreless at the top of the seventh, ending the game 8-0. Kaitlynn Copher carried the team by scoring three runs and hitting her first home run for the season and gaining two RBIs. Katelyn Francis would also score two RBI's while winning pitcher Longuet threw six strikeouts and allowed no runs.

In the second game, the Pirates once again found the early lead by scoring five runs in the first three innings with the Ladies once again scoreless.  In the bottom of the third, Centenary was able to tack on three more runs to try and get back in the game, however, with one more run singled in by Silvas, the Ladies scored only one run in the fifth with the last two innings scoreless, and the Pirates taking the sweep with a 6-4 victory.

The Pirates now improve 22-4 overall and 9-3 in conference play. Up next, the Pirates head back to Georgetown to take on the Trinity Tigers on Friday and Saturday, April 5-6.
