Pirates rout Schreiner for run-rule win

SEGUIN, Texas – Southwestern powered up their bats for day two at the SCAC Softball Championships and routed Schreiner 10-0 on Saturday.

The Pirates started things off with one run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Tessa Galloway before unleashing in the second for eight runs. Southwestern batted around the lineup in the second as they rocketed six hits and took advantage of three Mountaineer errors in the inning.

After a quiet third innings Southwestern added one more run in the fourth for insurance and closed the game out with a quick top of the fifth to close out the 10-0 run rule victory.

Cozette Palmer earned the win, allowing just three hits in five innings of work while striking out four and walking none. Schreiner's Rodriguez garnered the loss with nine runs, six earned, on nine hits while walking one.
