Women's Lacrosse Defeated in SCAC Championship Game

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Southwestern University Pirates women's lacrosse team struggled against the Colorado College Tigers' suffocating defense, losing 18-1 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) championship game.

Colorado College dominated in the first half, scoring 11 goals in the first 10 minutes to take a 15-0 lead into the break. The Tigers won 14 of the 16 first-half draw controls and scooped up 19 of the 21 ground balls, taking a 34-5 advantage in shots with Pirate goalie McKenna Zinke saving 16.

The Tigers were led by Allie Thuet's six points off three goals and three assists. Colorado Colelge scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half and Natasha Perez-Krause finally put the Pirates on the board at the 4:31 mark with an unassisted goal.

Southwestern ends its season with a 7-6 record and Colorado College improves to 17-1, winning the SCAC Championship.
