Women's Lax Rolls to Home Win Over Johnson & Wales

GEORGETOWN - The Southwestern University women's lacrosse team used a 15 goal first half to build a huge lead en route to a 20-1 win over Johnson & Wales on Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field.

The Pirates out shot the Wildcast 48-2 while picking up 25 ground balls to 11. Southwestern forced 25 Johnson & Wales turnovers while finishing with a season low nine. The Pirates also won 16 of 21 draw controls in the contest.

Allison Cook scored three goals in the first half whiel Hayley Donnelly and Brenna Jobb each added a pair of goals in the half. Madison Godleski added a pair of goals in the half while Johnee Wolter also had a pair of goals. Southwestern held a 15-0 lead after one half.

The Pirates stayed in complete control in the second half while emptying their bench as they eventually finished the game off with a 20-1 win.

Cook and Jobb each finished with three goals and two assists while Cook had five caused turnovers and seven ground balls. Ally Bienvenu and Donnelly each had two goals while Jillie Klumbach had two goals and three assists. Donnelly and Wolter each had two goals and one assist. 

Grace Maynard had a goal and two assists while Ronnie Winter, Lacie Bowersox, and Lois Durant each had a goal. Julia Tape added four caused turnovers while Winter and Jobb each had two. Jobb also had five ground balls while Tape had four. Haley Hurt played the first half in goal while Claire Harding played the second.

Southwestern moves to 5-9 overall and will prepare for the final two games of the season next weekend beginning on Friday with a 4 PM match-up against Colorado College.
