GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford took a 3-0 lead early and were able to hold off the Pirates as Southwestern fell 13-6 on the road Friday.
SU was down five at halftime, 7-2, and Guilford tacked on three more to open the second half. The Pirates outscored the Quakers 4-1 in a 15 minute stretch but were held off the rest of the way.
Kate Davis led with three goals while Christina Rosendahl headed-up the defense with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Southwestern (4-4) remains on the road to take on Meredith on Sunday at 11 am CST.
