The Southwestern University Women's Lacrosse Team is hosting a Lax-4-Life game this Wednesday, March 19th at 6:00pm against Goucher College.
Lax-4-Life is a national lacrosse campaign to provide support to programs that spread adolescent and young adult suicide prevention awareness. Lax-4-Life began at West Chester University after a sibling of a lacrosse player committed suicide. The lacrosse community has been actively participating in spreading suicide prevention awareness among college campuses since 2009. Lax-4-Life games take place in Division I, Division, II, and Division III, during lacrosse games in the months of March and April. Over 63 Division I, II, and III teams participate and currently some high school teams are getting involved in spreading adolescent suicide prevention awareness.
Southwestern University and Goucher College will be wearing neon orange Lax-4-Life t-shirts at our game on Wednesday to help promote this important prevention program. There will also be free t-shirts given out to the first 50 fans that attend the game. The money collected from Lax-4-Life t-shirts as well as donations will be given to the "American Foundation for Suicide Prevention." Feel free to visit the Lax-4-Life Table set up by Southwestern Counseling Services to ask questions and become active in helping spread adolescent suicide prevention awareness.
The Pirates women's lacrosse team is also partnering with Southwestern Counseling Services to raise awareness about suicide prevention.
