Women's Golf Finishes Second At SCAC Preview

BLANCO, Texas – The Southwestern University Pirates women's golf team placed second at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Preview, scoring a 653 to finish one stroke off the lead behind Trinity University.

Southwestern improved on its first-round performance by one stroke, tying Trinity in the second round with a score of 326. Sophomore Madison Goldberg and first year Linsey Garza led the Pirates with scores of 161, tying for third place.

Goldberg fell off her first-round pace, scoring an 83 after notching a 78 on the first day. Garza improved by one stroke, scoring an 80 on the second day.

Senior Emily Campbell finished eighth with a score of 165, showing steady play by leading the field in made pars with 20. First year Madison Miller scored an 80 in the second round, improving on her first-round performance by six strokes to finish with a 166 and a ninth-place finish, rounding out the Pirates in the top 10.

First Year Sarah Lucido finish with a combined score of 169 to finish in a tie for 11th. Katherine Montgomery, competing as an individual, scored a 183 to tie for 21st.

Southwestern will return to action on a four-day event at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational in Jekyll Island, Georgia from Thursday, March 19 through Sunday, March 22.
