Women's Golf Finishes Day 1 of the Lady Bulldog Classic in First Place

SEGUIN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates women's golf team opened its season with a strong first day at the Texas Lutheran University Lady Bulldog Fall Classic, finishing first at 18 over par (306) through round one. 

Program newcomers Linsey Garza and Madison Goldberg paced the Pirates with scores of 75, finishing three over par to finish in a three-way tie for third place with Trinity University's Delaney Kelley. 

Returner Emily Campbell finished tied for sixth with a score of 77 at five over par. Sarah Lucido finished in a tie for 10th (79) and Leilani McDaniel (80) finished in a tie for 12th. 

University of Texas-Dallas' Karen Alvarez finished atop the individual leaderboard with a 73, finishing one over par. Her team finished the first day in second at 315.
