Women's Golf Finishes 10th at Jekyll Island Invitational

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — The Southwestern University Pirates women's golf team finished 10th in a field of 21 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational this weekend. 

Southwestern started the competition in seventh place after the first round, shooting a 320 with New York University leading the pack with a 300. The Pirates moved up to sixth place in the second round after scoring a 319 but fell back in the third round, scoring a 335 to finish with a score of 974. 

Leilani McDaniel led the Pirates with a 237, shooting an 80 in the first and third rounds and a 77 in the second to finish 21 over par. Emily Campbell followed close behind with a 239 with scoring splits of 77, 81, and 81 over the three rounds to finished tied for 26th. 

Valentina Olivieri (T-55) scored a 250, followed by Julia Wofford (T-70) with a 255, and Katherine Dyo (75) with a 257. 

The Pirates will return home to host the West Region Invitational at Berry Creek Golf Course from Sunday, March 31 through Tuesday, April 2.
