KERRVILLE, Texas - The Southwestern University women's golf team shot a 321 (+33) on Monday afternoon as they sit in third place, just two spots out of first, after the first round of the Schreiner Spring Shootout at Comache Trace.
SCAC-rival Trinity leads the way after shooting a 319 (+31) while Hardin-Simmons is second after shooting a 320 (+32). Schreiner is fourth after shooting a 329 (+41) while Mary Hardin-Baylor rounds out the top five after shooting a 334 (+46).
Two Pirates sit in the top five beginning with sophomore Emily Campbell shot a 75 (+3) to sit in second. Fellow sophomore Leilani McDaniel shot a 77 (+5) and sits in fourth after first round play.
Junior Valentina Olivieri-Puentes shot an 84 (+12) on Monday while junior Katie Dyo shot an 85 (+13). Junior Mikayla Miller rounded out the team scoring for the Pirates, shooting an 89 (+17).
The Pirates will return to action for the final round on Tuesday morning as they look to climb the scoreboard and earn their second team win of the spring season.
