Women's golf opens season in Tyler

TYLER, Texas - Southwestern women's golf officially kicked off their season Monday at the Al Jones Jr. Memorial Tournament hosted by UT Tyler. The Pirates shot a 329 and are in fourth place, nine shots out of second. 

UT Tyler leads the event after day one with a 315. 

Leilani McDaniel leads the Pirates with a first round 77 to finish the day tied for fourth. Valentina Olivieri posted a 79 to place ninth. Paige Greenan shot an 85, Mikayla Miller an 88 and Katherine Dyo a 91. 

Southwestern closes the tournament on Tuesday.
