Leonard captures Individual Title at Lady Bulldog Invite

SEGUIN, Texas – Bernice Leonard fired the best round of the day on Tuesday as she captured her first collegiate title to win the 2014 Lady Bulldog Fall Invitational and helped the Southwestern women's golf team to a third place finish.

Leonard paced the Pirates with a 72 on Tuesday to follow her 74 from Monday to card a 146 and hold off Shelby DeVore of Trinity by five strokes.

Alexis Gonzalez and Keeley Coburn helped the Pirates move up the leaderboard as a team to finish third with a 646 team total. The Pirates were just two shots behind Schreiner for second place while Trinity took home team honors with a 621.

Gonzalez and Coburn both improved their second day scores as they both finished with rounds of 80. Gonzalez finished 14th, while Coburn finished tied for 17th and six strokes behind her teammate with a 168.

Lauren Boone narrowly missed a top 20 finish as she entered the clubhouse tied for 21st.

Southwestern returns to the course Sept. 20 as they head to the DePauw Small College Classic in Clayton, Indiana.
