One Stroke Lands Pirates in Second at UT Tyler

TYLER, Texas - Southwestern women's golf shot the lowest round of the tournament on Tuesday, 316, to finish in second place at the Al Jones Memorial. SU ended with 644 strokes while UT Tyler took first with 643. 

Lauren Boone was outstanding on day two, setting the pace for Southwestern with the lowest round of the tournament with a one-over-par 73. When combined with her 82 on day one she finished in third place overall and one stroke behind the individual winner, Laura Lindsey of UT Tyler. 

Kelsey Coburn continued to post solid play with an 80-77 for a two-day total of 157 to come in tied for fourth. Bernice Leonard wasn't far behind with a consistent 81-83 to finish tied for 10th with 164 strokes. 

Keeley Coburn was the fourth highest finisher for the Pirates with a two-day total of 168 (85-83) to end tied for 18th and Karissa Speck rounded out SU's team with a 22nd place finish at 173 strokes (90-83). 

Korey Coburn, playing individually, also posted a strong round with 175 strokes (87-88) and coming in tied for 24th. 

The outstanding round is a great momentum boost as the Pirates head to the Golf Week Preview in Destin, Fla. on October 14-16. The invitation-only event hosts the top teams in the nation and will give the Pirates a taste of the NCAA Championship field.
