Greta Gritti is the ninth head coach in the history of the Southwestern women’s basketball program, which dates back to 1976. 

Since taking the helm, Gritti has guided the Pirates to four SCAC Tournaments, including a run to the championship game in her first season as head coach. During her tenure, the Pirates have received 17 All-SCAC selections, including four First Team, two Second Team, one Third Team, and 10 Honorable Mention selections. 

In 2020, the Pirates upset No. 20 Austin College in conference play and advanced to the second round of the SCAC Tournament with a last-second defensive stand against Colorado College. 

Prior to joining Southwestern in the summer of 2017, Gritti was the head coach of the University of Dallas Crusaders from 2015-2017, leading them to back-to-back SCAC Tournament appearances. 

The St. Louis, Missouri native began her coaching career as an assistant at Fontbonne University, winning the 2010 SLIAC Title, the 2010 SLIAC Tournament Championship, and an NCAA Tournament berth in her fourth season. 

Gritti spent the next two seasons as a graduate assistant at NAIA DI Baker University while earning her master's degree. During her time there, the Wildcats posted their first 20-win season in a decade.

She was an assistant coach at Rhodes College from 2013-2015, helping to guide the Lynx to a 45-13 record in her two seasons. Rhodes won the SAA Conference title with a 13-1 conference record in 2014, winning the SAA Tournament and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In her second season, Rhodes won the SAA Tournament as the third seed, earning another NCAA Tournament berth. 

Gritti received her undergraduate degree in 2005 from Rockhurst University.
