GEORGETOWN - The Southwestern University women's basketball team put one of their best all-around outings of the season on display on Friday evening, dominating the Colorado College Tigers to a 70-46 SCAC win at the Robertson Center.

The Pirates shot 41% from the field including 29% from behind the arc, and 60% from the charity stripe. The Tigers shot 35% from the field, 43% from deep, and 40% from the free throw line.

The story of the game was in the paint, where Southwestern completely dominated, outrebounding Colorado College 50-29. The Pirates forced 22 Tiger turnovers and held a 13-2 advantage in second chance points. Southwestern also got a huge boost from the bench with a 27-1 advantage in bench points.

Southwestern looked sharp early on, jumping in front 6-0 and pushing the lead out to 10-2. Colorado College crept back into it, but Southwestern took a 17-14 lead at the end of the first. 

The Pirates opened the second half on a quick 6-0 run to push the lead out to nine Colorado College answered back with the next six points to cut the deficit back to three. With the score at 26-22, Southwestern went on a 9-2 run thanks in bpart to 3-pointers from senior Brooke Swift and junior Loryn Hernandez, holding a 35-24 lead at the break.

The combination of senior Madison Edwards and freshman Noel Pratts took over the third quarter, each scoring five points to build the lead out to 16; however, Colorado College closed the quarter strong, cutting it back to 11 going into the final quarter. 

An 8-0 run by Southwestern to begin the fourth quarter put the game out of reach thanks in part to a 3-pointer from sophomore Zhazze Brown and a 3-point play by sophomore Cecily Woolfolk. In the final quarter, Southwestern held Colorado College to only six points and blew the game wide open, eventually finishing with the 24 points win at 70-46.

Carraway scored 17 points on 8 of 10 shooting while Woolfolk came off the bench, scoring 10 points to go with 12 rebounds, including seven offensive boards, two blocks, and two steals. Pratts and Edwards scored nine each while junior Kelsey Faykus had nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Senior Brooke Swift had five points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

For Colorado College, McKenzee Gertz led all scorers with 24 while Casey Torbet added 10. 

Southwestern moves to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in SCAC play. They will return to action on Saturday evening as they welcome in the University of Dallas for a 6 PM tip-off.
