GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern dominated early and were never challenged as they defeated Centenary 91-57 on Saturday evening, posting their second highest point total of the season.

Southwestern was smoking on both ends of the floor as the game got underway and led by 20, 24-4, ten minutes into the game. The game became a track meet as both teams attacked hard in transition, but the SU defense couldn't be penetrated as they held Centenary to 15% from the floor early.

By the time the halftime buzzer sounded Southwestern's lead had ballooned to 36, 56-20. Centenary's shooting improved but they were held to just 25% from the floor and 10% from long range while SU was 50% or above from the field and three point.

Chelsea Leeder and Madison Eschle led in the half with 11 points each while Bourne had a huge half on the glass, pulling down 11 boards, nearly matching the Ladies' team total.

Southwestern picked up in the second half where they left off and used solid bench play to extend their lead to 40 by the three minute mark, 86-46, and cruised until the final buzzer.

The Pirates shot 47.1% from the floor and 43.8% from three point range while holding Centenary to 27.7% from the field and 21.7% from three point range. Leeder led SU with 18 points in 20 minutes while Annie Bourne posted a double-double with 11 points and 16 boards in 17 minutes. Eschle added in 15 points off the bench on 6-7 shooting, 1-1 from three point range and 2-2 from the free throw line.

The win improves Southwestern to 7-9 overall and 3-2 in the SCAC and extends their win streak to three. Centenary remains winless at 0-13 on the year, 0-4 in the conference. The Pirates hit the road for the first time in nearly a month to face Colorado College on Friday at 9 p.m. CST.
