Women's Basketball Hits Century Mark in SCAC Win

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Southwestern women's basketball remains undefeated in conference play with a 100-56 victory over Centenary College on Friday night. 

It took almost three minutes for Centenary to score their first points as the Pirates jumped out to a quick 10 lead. Southwestern closed the half in the same fashion, using a 11-2 run to take a 19 point lead 47-28 into halftime. 

A big start to the second half with three, three-pointers in the first four possessions allowed SU to push their lead to 26 in the blink of an eye. Southwestern never lost steam as a steady stream of Pirates off the bench continued the offensive onslaught throughout the remainder of the game. SU posted their largest lead of the game, 45 points, with two minutes remaining and cruised the the 100-56 final. 

Southwestern shot 50% from the floor for the game and 45.5% from three point range and held the Ladies to 31.4% and 16.7%. Audrey Garcia led offensively for the Pirates with 19 points while Jordan Owens and Chelsea Leeder added in 15 points each. Centenary's Vashni Sharp-Moore led all scorers with 21 points. 

The Pirates improve to 11-4 on the year and 5-0 in the SCAC with the win while Centenary falls to 3-11 and 2-4. Southwestern remains on the road to face Austin College on Saturday night in Sherman, Texas.
