Men's Cross Country Run Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Southwestern men's cross country team traveled to compete in the Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival 8k, where Noah Dennis placed 83 out of 346 runners early this morning.

Southwestern placed 32 for men only running with five runners, while almost all of the other teams competed with six or seven runners. The Pirates also competed against Division I, II and III schools, including fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) member Trinity University.

Dennis, who has proved himself in his freshman year, finished first among the Pirates with a time 27:23 and an average pace of 5:30 a mile. CP Shaulis came in second for the Pirate runners with a time of 27:57 and an average pace of 5:37 a mile. Nathan Botros also ran well with a time of 29:56 and an average pace of 6:01 a mile.

Coach Steven Carry said, "I'm extremely proud of the way our men raced today. We scheduled this meeting knowing it was going to be really competitive, really tough, but each of our guys stepped up and competed well. I thought Noah and C.P. did a great job of moving up through the field and setting the tone for the rest of our team. Both ran big personal bests. Overall, this gives us confidence going into this last month of training before the conference meet."

Up next, the Pirates will host the Pirate Invitational in Georgetown, Texas, on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8 a.m.
