Devenport leads wire-to-wire to win Southwestern Opener on Tuesday

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Abraham Devenport led wire-to-wire to win the Southwestern Opener on Tuesday evening at San Gabriel Park.

Devenport, a sophomore from Kerrville, circled the three-mile course in a time of 17:38.02, besting the runner-up finisher by over five seconds.

Gregory McDade was the second-fastest Pirate to finish the race, as the freshman crossed the the line with a time of 18:43.13, good for fifth overall.

Meanwhile, Concordia Texas captured the team title, as the Torandos collected three of the top four spots.

Southwestern will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Our Lady of the Lake Invitational, which will be held at Windcrest Golf Club in Windcrest.
