Field events highlight SCAC Track & Field Championships

SEGUIN, Texas - Tyler Adams led Southwestern in the 2018 SCAC Track & Field Championships, earning a spot on the podium multiple times over the two day championship. Southwestern finished in fourth in the overall team standings. 

Adams became intimately familiar with the podium beginning with a third place finish in the discus with a throw of 40.04m. Adams snagged third in the shot put (13.71m), hammer throw (48.10), and javelin (46.06) to become the highest point getter for the Pirates

Devin Rosas and Brandon Jenkins rounded out the field point-getters on the weekend, earning points in the long jump and high jump, respectively. Rosas posted a distance of 6.29m in the long jump while Jenkins posted a 1.87m to finish in sixth overall in the event. 

On the track, Will Lord placed in the top six to earn a point for Southwestern, finishing the men's 10000 meter in 36:23.08. John Hattan followed it up with a pair of fourth place finishes in the 3000 meter steeplechase (9:58.39) and 5000m run (15:51.01).

The SU relay teams fared well as the Pirates finished fifth in the 4x100 with a time of 46.43 and fourth in the 4x400m run in a time of 3:34.98. 

The championships mark the end of the 2018 season for the Pirates.
