Pirates post several personal records at Trinity Tiger Invitational

SAN ANTONIO - Tyler Adams finished in second place in the hammer throw with a school-record toss to lead the Southwestern men's track & field team at Friday's Trinity Tiger Invitational.

Adams registered a measurement of 152-5 (46.47m), besting his old program mark of 135-7 (41.34m). It also is the fourth-longest toss in conference history.

John Hattan posted a runner-up finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal-record time of 10:36.60. Joshua Im added a personal record in the 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 16:26.10, which was good for sixth place.

The Pirates' 4x100-meter relay team also placed second. The four-person team of Garrett Gibbins, Greg McDade, Colton Williams and Josiah Minnifield posted a time of 44.07 seconds.

Minnifield also finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 51.38 seconds.

Southwestern will return to action on Friday, April 7, at the UIW Cardinal Invitational in San Antonio.
