SAN ANTONIO – The Southwestern men's and women's track & field teams opened up the 2017 season at the Trinity Open on Saturday.
The Pirates sent a total of 19 competitors to the event.
Joshua Im headlined the day for Southwestern, as the first-year finished first overall in the 10,000-meter run. Im posted a time of 34:35.00 to win the event.
The men's squad also was led by John Hattan's third-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Greg McDade's 14th place showing in the 400-meter dash.
Trina Ha turned in a seventh-place performance in the 5,000-meter run for the women's squad. Marissa Morin placed 13th in the long jump with a leap of 4.59 meters, while Hannah Bruce finished eighth in the discus throw with a heave of 30.45 meters.
The Pirates will resume competition on March 4 at the Cuero Invitational.
