Three SU Records fall at Tiger Relays

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern had three athletes break school records at the Trinity University Tiger Relays over the weekend.  Several Pirates put up season best performances and placed highly in the meet.

 

Daniel Tuttle set the SU record in the Men's 400 Hurdles with a time of 55.11.  He placed 5th overall, as the 3rd fastest collegiate athlete and was the top D-III finisher.  In the Men's 800, Paden Williams broke the school best and ran a 1:57.93, finished 9th overall and was the 7th fastest collegian.  Cody Taylor cleared a height of 4.25m in the pole vault to set the Pirate record.  He finished tied for 9th overall, as the 8th collegiate athlete, and posted the highest D-III vault.

 

The Pirates received several other notable performances at the meet.  Daniel Tuttle also ran a strong Men's 110 Hurdles, finished with a season best time of 15.08, as the 1st collegiate athlete and placed 3rd overall.  In the Men's 3k Steeplechase, Joe Sponsel ran a season best 10:52.6 and finished 6th overall.  In the Men's 5k, Sam Martinez ran a season best 16:18.32 and finished 6th overall.  Philip Davis also set a personal record in the event with a time of 17:11.  The Men's 4x100 team of Zach Anglin, Alex Sheppard, Daniel Tuttle, and Ryan Huiszoon posted a season best time of 44.10 to finish 8th overall.  In the Men's Javelin, Daniel Poole threw a distance of 47.33m and placed 6th at the Relays.

 

On the women's side, several athletes posted season best times as well.  Valerie Logan notched her fastest performance of the year in the Women's 400 with a time of 65.10.  Lilly Duarte (2:20.30, 7th overall) and Kara Koinis (2:28.63) ran their best times of the season in the Women's 800.  The Women's 4x400 team of Kara Koinis, Valerie Logan, Emily Ammon, and Lilly Duarte placed 7th overall with a time of 4:25.99.

 

The teams compete again April 5th and 6th at the Texas State Open in San Marcos, Texas.
