GEORGETOWN, Texas -- After pushing back the matches because of weather, the Southwestern Pirates were able to compete and take a 9-0 win over the Howard Payne Yellow Jackets.
For doubles, the Pirates were able to sweep both matches with Hunter Bajoit and Carlos Rodero winning 8-0. Tashawn Treadwell and Jeremy Wilson won 8-2.
In single matches, Jeremy Wilson was the only player to win both sets 6-0, 6-0, making this his second win in singles for the season. Other singles winners for Southwestern were Alonso Fernandez who won 6-1, 6-0, Max Pearson 6-0, 6-1, and Tyler Norman 6-1, 6-2.
"The guys did a great job of staying focused after a lengthy rain delay," says Coach Billy Porter, who went on to give praise to player Kyle Brown. "It was great to see Kyle get a match in and win."
Brown beat HPU's Rudy Perez 6-0 in one set.
Porter said of the other winners, "Max gained some valuable experience playing at #1 Singles today and I really liked what I saw from Tashawn in Doubles."
Men's tennis improves 6-0 in the season and looks forward to next weekend's match on Saturday, March 9, against Occidental in Georgetown, Texas.
