TYLER, Texas – The Pirate men's tennis win streak was stopped at two as No. 15 UT-Tyler blanked the Pirates 9-0 Saturday in a regional battle.
Southwestern fell to 2-1 on the year as the Patriots claimed all nine matches including all three doubles. UT-Tyler also entered the match ranked No. 6 in the region.
Niko Snovely was handed his first loss of the year, 6-2, 6-3 to Doug Kierstad at No. 1 singles.
Sam McCready battled in the afternoon's closest match before falling 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 3 position against Drew Reid.
McCready and Egan Cornachione also pushed Daniel Budd and Ryan Spencer at No. 2 doubles before falling 8-3.
The Pirates return to the court next weekend against Louisiana College on Saturday before traveling to SCAC foe Austin College on Sunday.
