SAN ANTONIO -- The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team lost its head-to-head meet with the Trinity University by a final of 159.5-117.5.
Southwestern picked up its first victory in the 10th event with Alek Argueta clocking in at 59.89 for the only sub-minute mark in the 100-yard breaststroke. Argueta also picked up a victory in the 200-yard breaststroke, scoring a time of 2:12.59.
The Pirates picked up three wins in the individual freestyle events. Keith Gill edged out Trinity's Shamzi Alkaff by fractions of a second, finishing at 21.74 to win the 50-yard freestyle and in the 100-yard freestyle, Sam Anderson took first with a time of 48.31. In the 500-yard freestyle, Matt Oevermann won with a time of 4:55.93.
Southwestern also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with the team of Henry McClure, Gill, Anderson, and Todd Coachman recording a time of 1:27.33.
The Pirates will host UT-Permian Basin on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. The SCAC Championships in San Antonio will take place from Wednesday, Feb. 12 through Saturday, Feb. 15.
