Men's Swimming Sets School Records To Widen Lead in SCAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO — The Southwestern University Pirates men's swimming and diving team extended its lead in Day Three of the SCAC Championships, setting two school records and winning three events. 

Peter Robinson defended his 200 freestyle title with a time of 1:40.67, breaking the school record, while Alek Argueta won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.97. 

The quartet of Carl-Ake Wilber, Argueta, Keith Gill, and Robinson set another school mark by clocking in at 3:23.93—the second best mark in SCAC Championships history—to take gold in the 400 medley relay, pushing the team's three-day total score to 579. Trinity currently stands in second with a score of 522. 

Southwestern will continue Saturday looking to capture the men's first SCAC swimming title.
