Men's Soccer Falls 2-0 to St. Thomas
HOUSTON, Texas -- The Southwestern University Pirates men's soccer team surrendered two second-half goals to lose 2-0 to the St. Thomas Celts. 
 
The Pirates struggled to generate any offense in the first half, earning just one corner kick while failing to fire off a single shot before the break. On the other end, St. Thomas kept steady pressure with nine shots, including three on goal with Southwestern goalie Jack Viles stopping them all. 
 
St. Thomas' barrage continued in the second half with nine more shots, finally breaking through at the 62:41 mark when Maxwell Lockhart scored off a rebound from Carlos Marquez's free kick. 
 
Marquez added the insurance goal at the 73:27 mark, scoring on a header off a pass from Luis Bencomo.
 
The Pirates managed four shots in the second half with St. Thomas goalie Pedro Medrano stopping the only two on goal. 
 
With the loss, the Pirates drop to 9-6-2 on the season, including 3-4-1 in conference play. Southwestern will travel to Louisiana on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 p.m.
