GEORGETOWN, Texas — The Southwestern University Pirates men's soccer team continued its hot streak, picking up its fourth consecutive win with a a 2-0 victory over the Johnson & Wales University Wildcats. 

Throughout the game, the Pirates made several attempts to connect on deep passes too long runs up the middle, getting just a little too much on the passes and sending them out of bounds or into the arms of Johnson & Wales' goalie Brandon Coder. 

That heavy touch proved to be beneficial on the Pirates' two goals, however. A little more than four minutes into the match, first year midfielder Fernando Garduno-Jaramilo found a pocket of space in the middle of the pitch and boomed a deep, ambitious shot into the back of the net to give Southwestern a 1-0 lead. 

Southwestern connected again from distance nearly 20 minutes into the match when junior midfielder Luis Ramirez's free kick into the wind from the left sideline curved its way through a crowd around the net and in, untouched. 

That was enough for the defense, scoring the Pirates' second shutout victory of the season with goalkeeper Jackson Krueger, the reigning SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, picking up six saves. 

With the victory, the Pirates move to 4-1-1. Southwestern will remain home to face Colorado College on Sunday, Sep. 22 at noon.
