Southwestern Dominates Dallas and Advances to SCAC Championship Finals
IRVING, Texas - In the first round of the SCAC Championships, the Southwestern Pirates blew past The University of Dallas 23-2 to advance to the finals to take on Colorado College for the title. 
 
Winning 12 of the 12 faceoffs in the first period, the Southwestern Pirates shot the ball into the net to total 11 unanswered goals to gain the early lead at the beginning of the game. Scoring three of his goals in the first half, Zac Asbury broke the SCAC season single point record, now totaling 98 points in the 2018-19 season.  Asbury also contributed three assists and tied for the most points in the game, alongside Blake Sterger who also had three goals for the Pirates. 
 
In the second period, Dallas still struggled to get the ball to the offense while the Southwestern defense was able to stop all in the path and allow the Southwestern offense to go to work, resulting in the Pirates scoring three more goals to make the score 14-0 going into the half. 
 
Going into the third period the game slowed down for both teams on the offense, and Dallas hit their first goal of the game, scored by sophomore Tucker Jameson. However, Dallas would not score again until the end of the fourth period, while Southwestern was able to score nine more goals to end the game 23-2. 
 
Highlighted players: Jack DoloszyckiJared Welsh, Cody Foster, Nick Doxey, and Logan Spalding each scored two goals for the Pirates and Achilles Armendariz was able to lead the team with eight groundballs. 
 
Now moving on to the finals, Southwestern will play Colorado College on Sunday, April 28 at 12:00 p.m. for the SCAC 2019 Men's Lacrosse Championship title.
