Pirates sweep men's lacrosse SCAC Player of the Week honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Carter Cowan and Charlie Fisher nabbed SCAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played from Monday, March 10th through Sunday March, 16th. 

SCAC Offensie Player of the Week

CARTER COWAN OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior attackman from Austin, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 10th through Sunday, March 16th.

Cowan led a potent Pirate attack as Southwestern picked up their fourth win of the season, an 11-6 victory over Hope College.

Cowan scored three goals and assisted on one other as the Pirates defeated Hope College on Saturday. He took six shots and picked up four ground balls. 

Cowan is currently third on the team with nine goals and fourth on the team with four assists for a total of 13 points. He also has seven assists on the year.

SCAC Defensive Player of the Week 

CHARLIE FISHER, a sophomore goaltender from Memphis, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 10th through Sunday, March 16th. 

In his first start, Fisher led the Pirates to their fourth win this season, defeating Hope College 11-6. 

Fisher posted 11 saves on 17 shots as the Pirates defeated Hope for his first win in his first collegiate start. He also recorded six ground balls, tying the team high for the game. 

Fisher leads the team with 42 saves and has a 2-0 record on the season after SU's win over Birmingham Southern College on Monday evening. His GAA is 7.62 in a team leading 220:28. 

The Pirates are off to their best start ever, sitting at 5-2 on the season. They hit the road to face Babson College in Colorado Springs on Friday at 2 p.m. before returning to SCAC conference action for a rematch against Colorado College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
